Beef and Pea Hand Pies

Description

Delicious beef and pea hand pies, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup carrots, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/3 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas
  • 2 refrigerated pie crusts
  • 1 large egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion and carrots and cook for 4–5 minutes until softened.
  3. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add ground beef and cook until fully browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess grease.
  5. Stir in tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened.
  6. Stir in frozen peas and cook for 1 minute. Remove from heat and allow filling to cool completely.
  7. Roll out pie crusts and cut 4 circles from each crust to make 8 circles total.
  8. Place about 1/4 cup filling in the center of each circle.
  9. Fold dough over to form a half-moon and crimp edges with a fork to seal. Cut small slits on top.
  10. Brush tops with beaten egg.
  11. Bake for 18–22 minutes until golden brown. Cool slightly before serving.
