Description
A delicious vegetarian twist on a classic dish, featuring crispy cauliflower and a flavorful sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large head cauliflower, cut into florets
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- ½ cup water
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1–2 teaspoons chili flakes (adjust to taste)
- 2 cups cooked rice (white or brown)
- 1 cup steamed broccoli
- 1 carrot, julienned
- 2 green onions, sliced
- Sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Start by preheating your oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, water, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth. Dip the cauliflower pieces into the batter, letting any excess drip off, then arrange them on the baking sheet.
- Bake for about 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the edges are golden and slightly crisp.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and chili flakes. Stir gently and let it simmer.
- In a separate bowl, mix cornstarch with water, then pour it into the sauce. Watch as it thickens.
- Once the cauliflower is done, toss it gently in the sauce until every piece is coated.
- To assemble, scoop rice into bowls, add the saucy cauliflower, and surround it with broccoli and carrots. Finish with green onions and sesame seeds for garnish.
